What a tourist should do in Ohio

  • Take a walk along the Scioto Mile waterfront in Columbus. From here you can enjoy the panorama of the city with its skyscrapers.
  • Immerse yourself in rock history at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. It will strike the imagination and interest even people who have never been interested in this type of music. You can see props, artifacts, and exhibits related to the names of great musicians.
  • Listen to real jazz at the Blue Jazz Club in Akron. Once played host to the greats Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
  • See a movie at The South Drive-in Theatre in Columbus. It has been in operation for more than 70 years and shows pictures on two screens. Each car is given a loudspeaker.
  • Have a photo shoot at the Krohn Greenhouse in Cincinnati. It is a great representative of the Art Deco style with glass and aluminum elements. There is a stunning collection of cacti, succulents, palms and tropical plants.
  • Check out one of the most unusual museums in the world – The American Sign Museum in Cincinnati. It contains several thousand different signs, from the earliest examples to today’s neon signs.
  • Attend a game of one of the NBA’s best basketball teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James played for a long time and Shaquille O’Neal spent one season there.
  • Experience the European atmosphere at the German Village in Columbus. It was founded by immigrants in the mid-19th century who brought their traditions to America – they built cozy brick houses, opened classic beer gardens and green parks.
  • Spend time in Hocking Hills National Park. It’s popular for its caves, scenic hiking trails, and variety of birds.
  • Experience the beauty of Cincinnati’s main square, Fountain Square, home to concerts, festivals, performances, and an ice rink in winter. There is a stunning 13-meter fountain made of bronze, metal, and granite.

Best time to go to Ohio

Ohio has a temperate climate, turning subtropical to the south. Summers are hot and winters are cool. The average temperature in January ranges from -6ºC to +3ºC. The thermometer rises to +18 … +30 ºС in July.
The city of Wilmington hosts an annual Banana Split Festival in June, dedicated to the popular dessert. Join in a wide variety of entertainment, live music, traditional foods, handicrafts, and car shows. And then, you can eat your fill of banana splits and even assemble your own variation of this sweet dish.

In September, after Labor Day, Chillicothe hosts the Ohio Storytelling Festival. Storytellers from all over the country come here to share their work in front of thousands of listeners.
